Mexico IS a different place. It is not the Southwestern US. This is a blog about our lives here in The Lakeside area of Ajijic and Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico since we retired here in September of 2010. It will be about daily/weekly things we experience along with occasional trips.
This is the latest flower to bloom in our garden. It's lovely, although I've never seen one this color before. The one's I've seen, in my mother's garden, were bright red with bright yellow centers. Aubrey, our landlord who gave us these bulbs from his garden says that we will have some red ones too when the other two plants bloom. As I mentioned previously somewhere, Aubrey brought these bulbs/plants from Australia to Mexico by way of Canada and California where he lived for many years. Aubrey's dad originally bought the bulbs in Amsterdam and took them to Australia. Given that Aubrey is in his 80's, that would mean that Aubrey's dad likely took the original bulbs to Australia about 100 years ago...Wow...
