Mexico IS a different place. It is not the Southwestern US. This is a blog about our lives here in The Lakeside area of Ajijic and Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico since we retired here in September of 2010. It will be about daily/weekly things we experience along with occasional trips.
This is Carole's favorite rose in our terrace garden. It's not very big and only has a hint of fragrance and the picture doesn't truly capture the subtly of its color, the pink diffusing into the white. Carole loves how delicate it is and that this rose bush can and does have about a half dozen blooms at one time. It's truly beautiful when it does. It's center front on the terrace and in easy view. We have about five different roses, my favorite is a deep red with a wonderful scent. I'll post a picture soon. A local peculiarity, the roses at the nurseries don't have names! They buy them from a wholesale nursery, and they apparently don't keep track of the plant's specific name either...strange. We are so pleased that most of our plants are doing well, and most especially so of the roses. We've waited a long time to grow roses. When we lived at the beach near San Francisco in the 1980's it was too cool. When we lived in Phoenix our patios were always in shade and we weren't sure that we could grow them in the summer heat. The weather here is truly heavenly and we are very grateful for little things, life's simple pleasures...
