Tight Fit

Many of the side street in the Lakeside area are narrow with parking allowed only on one side of the street. Parking right next to the curb is necessary and SUVs fold back their side mirror. This is the same street where I took a picture of the primavera. This vehicle from the fire department (bomeros), narrower in the front decided that it couldn´t get by safely. I walked by as the passenger fireman got out to get a closer look. The truck was about less than an inch from the red SUV. They eventually backed up to the nearby corner and went up the adjacent one way street the wrong way. That´s a common occurrence. Defensive driving people! In this case, thank goodness there´s a lot of expats here. They are very much defensive drivers, the Mexicans not so much. The buses,  Coca-Cola delivery trucks and regular cars rumble down side streets as though there´s no way that kids, dogs,  pedestrians or cross traffic could possible be ahead. Fortunately children here learn at an early age not to go into the streets...but all of us expats drive the side streets slowly and carefully anyway. Daily life here in Mexico.
